Jubilee Album Artwork—30 years of Weltpartie

Heinz Grünauer (accordion, vocals) and Franz Eder (guitar, vocals) are two dedicated musicians with lots of heart and soul, as well as real entertainment professionals.

In celebration of their 30 year jubilee they released their first triple album entitled ‘Schluss mit lustig’ (fig. ‘The party is over!’) showcasing their musical scope, ranging from schlager to folk(-like) music and Wienerlied (Viennese song). Their performances are characterized by that typical Viennese ‘schmäh’, a blend of humor built on quick-wit and charm and at times sarcasm and melancholy, but always expressed with a smile.

For the imagery of the album art we decided to go back to the roots, focus on what the Weltpartie experience is essentially composed of: rousing live entertainment, in an atmosphere of quaint ‘gemütlichkeit’ and pleasant company, enjoying good wine or ‘spritzer’ and—perhaps—traditional food. As the album also provides a retrospective view we see the musicians surrounded by several images marking important career milestones. Those impressions were carefully created through photomontage. Looking at the photos you instantly get to spend some cheerful moments with the Weltpartie—and also to travel in time.

Apart from the black and white photos we used distinctive textile patterns and colors for structure and guidance, to link the CDs with certain sections of the booklet. Two patterns were selected as they refer to specific regions—and music genres: The red gingham check is often to be found in Viennese ‘heurigen’ (wine taverns) and ‘beisln’ (pubs). The Indigo hand block printing is a traditional craft in Burgenland and still being carried on by the Koó family in one of Europe’s last workshops of its kind.
